Unaccompanied Children
Reservations for Unaccompanied minors cannot be booked online. Please contact the Call Centre for more information.
Unaccompanied minors may travel on South Africa Airways flights if they:
Have prior authorisation from SAA
Reach their destination before 20h00
In the event of a connecting flight
Have booked through the central reservations office
Are in possession of written consent from their parents or guardians
On international flights are in possession of the necessary documentation (a valid passport, visas and health documents)
Are escorted to the airport and check-in by a responsible adult and met at destination by an authorised adult.
Please also note
All children between 5 and 11 are considered unaccompanied when travelling alone.
Children aged 5 to 11 are not considered to be unaccompanied minors when accompanied by another passenger of 16 or older
Children between the ages of 12 and 15 are regarded as young passengers and may travel unaccompanied.
Unaccompanied minors may not be booked in business or first class.
Children under 5 can only travel if accompanied throughout by an escort. Please notify SAA reservations who will be escorting the child. If you do not have an escort, SAA will arrange one, at a fee.
