El Al

Unaccompanied Minors Children traveling on their own are in good hands. Cabin attendants escort and supervise them and see to all of their needs from their arrival at the airport until arrival at their destination.

El Al offers special service to unaccompanied children aged 5 to 12, flying without an adult escort. Upon request, the service is also extended to children up to age 18. The service includes escorting and assisting the child from the moment the child arrives at the check-in counter and continues until he/she is met by adults at the destination. It can be ordered through a travel agent or directly at one of El Al's offices as well as through El Al's telephone reservations centers.

Children aged 5 to 12 can fly with El Al without a parent or other escort if they meet all requirements. The cost of the service is $50 per El Al flight segment. The $50 payment covers one or more children from the same family flying on the same flight to the same destination.

Especially for our young passengers

We have opened a special waiting room - the ELALCHIK Lounge - for these young passengers. The lounge is a pleasant, attractive, separate waiting room equipped with activities that children love: television, activity booklets and a wide choice of games - fun for the children to occupy them until flight time.

  • The designated crew member greets the child by name and introduces himself / herself, helps to seat the child and to store his or her baggage. The crew member also provides information about the plane and the proper use of the seat systems.

  • The child is presented with one of a variety of gifts.

  • The designated crew member pays maximal attention to the child during the course of the flight and is attentive to all of the child's needs (food, drink, lavatory, etc.)

The person accompanying the minor must submit the following details at the point of departure: name and personal details of the child and the parent meeting the child; (full name, I.D. number, passport number, contact telephone number). The overseas station will wire these details to the Israel station. Upon arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport, the parent should call the lost luggage department at 03-9771150 to submit his/her details and then continue to the "Personnel Passage" - next to the Steimatzky store on G Level. At this point a lost luggage representative will meet the parent who will be required to present an I.D. and then, using an EL AL internal phone, contact an EL AL attendant at the phone number that appears on the window. An EL AL ground attendant will arrive to authorize the parent's entry to the baggage retrieval hall.

  • The lost luggage representative corroborates the details against their records (name of the person receiving the child) to verify that they match and allows the parent into the hall
